Why is Water Pooling on My Flat Roof?

Central Oregon Flat Roofs Need Maintenance Over Time

With the recent trend towards modern style housing and flat roofs, we are seeing more and more membrane roofs being installed on Central Oregon homes. With this increase, we are also seeing more and more roofs exhibiting ponding, which at first does not appear to be too bad, but will continue to get worse over time and cause damage to the structure of your roof.
According to the National Roofing Contractor's Association, water must remain on your roof for 24-48 hours to be considering Ponding. Often this occurs in the dips in the roof around the drains. The excess weight from this water can cause damage to the building's structure and can stress the roof trusses. The constant exposure to water can also erode your Central Oregon Roof much quicker.
There are several causes of ponding, but one we commonly see if from ice dams from gutters. A gutter that is not properly cleared out during the fall, can lead to poor drainage and ice buildup back into the roofing layer pushing up the drip edges and essentially creating a bowl. We also see issues cause by improper installation and compression from being improperly walked on.
Good news! We can fix your flat roof! We can inspect your roof to determine the cause of the drainage issue and come up with a plan of action to fix it whether it be structural, sloping, drainage, or just simply fixing the low points. We are here and ready to help with your roofing needs. Give us a call today!
541 Roofing recently was able to participate in RoofLine Supply and Delivery's second annual "Faster Roofer" competition. Many local roofing companies competed in this Central Oregon Roofing event and your 541 Roofing Team was able to walk away with some prizes. We love the Bend Oregon roofing community and were proud to be able to compete against some wonderful roofers in Bend Oregon. Looking forward to next year!
